The US military has launched strikes against Iran in response to “unjustified Iranian aggression”, following the downing of a US Apache helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has now released new footage it claims shows missiles being launched during the attack, which targeted multiple US military assets across the Middle East.

President Donald Trump has ominously warned that the “US must respond” to the attack, leaving the door open for another major spillover that could set back peace negotiations even further.

The strikes came just hours after Trump – again – said a peace deal with Iran was close.

Israel has meanwhile resumed bombing Lebanon despite the US demanding that it stop, so a peace deal with Iran can get off the ground.

The release comes after another escalation between Washington and Tehran, with Iran launching missile and drone attacks on US-linked targets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan following American strikes on Iranian positions near the Strait of Hormuz.

The footage appears to show multiple missiles streaking into the night sky, although the exact location and timing could not be independently verified.

Iranian state media has increasingly published battlefield footage as the conflict enters a volatile new phase, with both sides attempting to demonstrate military capability while diplomats continue to pursue a broader peace deal.

The latest exchange of strikes has raised fears that months of negotiations could unravel, despite US President Donald Trump insisting a deal remains close.

Iran’s foreign ministry has meanwhile labelled the most recentUS strikes on Iran a “clear violation” of the country’s national sovereignty, warning neighbouring Middle Eastern countries hosting US troops that they could be targeted if attacks continue.

“(Iran’s armed forces) inflicted heavy damage on US bases and assets in the region that served as the origin of these attacks,” a ministry statement said.

“Iran will not hesitate to target the source of attacks.”
