Large explosions were reported in several parts of Iran, including the capital, Tehran, as the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States moved into its eighth day. Thick smoke rose over parts of the city early Saturday after a new wave of strikes, while Iran responded by launching missiles toward Israel.
A few hours later, the Israeli military said it had begun another round of attacks targeting Tehran and Isfahan, signaling a further escalation in a war that has already shaken much of the Middle East.
Tehran Hit Overnight as New Strikes Begin
Residents in Tehran woke to more explosions after overnight attacks struck different parts of the capital. Reports indicated that the bombardment had continued since shortly after midnight, with several areas affected.
Among the sites reportedly hit was the area around Mehrabad Airport, one of Tehran’s two main airports. Local accounts said nearby districts were also impacted. In addition to Tehran, attacks were reported in other Iranian cities as well.
According to reports from inside the country, the strikes were not limited to military or political locations. Residential neighbourhoods, schools and hospitals were also said to be among the areas affected, deepening concern over the humanitarian toll of the conflict.
Iran Accuses US and Israel of Attacking Civilian Areas
At the United Nations, Iran’s ambassador Amir-Saeid Iravani accused the United States and Israel of bombing civilian targets. Addressing the UN Security Council on Friday, he said the attacks amounted to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The war has already killed at least 1,230 people, and officials fear that number will continue to rise as fighting spreads and daily attacks continue.
The latest developments came after the administration of US President Donald Trump approved a new arms sale to Israel worth $151 million. The move followed Trump’s statement that there would be no negotiations with Iran unless Tehran accepted what he described as “unconditional surrender.”
Iran, however, signaled that it would continue to respond. Its ambassador to the UN said the country would take all necessary steps to defend itself.

Iran Launches New Missile Fire Toward Israel
While Tehran was under renewed attack, Iran launched another round of missiles toward Israel. The Israeli military said it detected incoming missile fire early Saturday, and explosions were later heard in Tel Aviv after the launches.
Missiles were also reported heading toward other areas, including parts of southern Israel. The continuing attacks forced millions of Israelis into shelters during the night, according to regional reports.
Analysts say Iran appears to be using repeated missile launches at different hours to maintain pressure on Israel and disrupt daily life. The tactic has added to public tension as civilians across the country remain on alert.
Region Faces Deepening Crisis
As the war enters another dangerous phase, the broader region is becoming increasingly entangled. Iran has not only struck back at Israel but has also targeted US assets in the Gulf, widening fears that the conflict could spread even further.
With both sides continuing to exchange attacks and Washington warning of an even heavier bombing campaign ahead, the risk of more casualties and greater instability remains high.
The eighth day of fighting has already shown that the conflict is no longer limited to isolated military exchanges. It has become a broader regional crisis, with civilian populations in multiple countries now living under the threat of further violence.
