Foxconn said on Friday that its $1.4 billion supercomputing center built in partnership with Nvidia will be operational by the first half of 2026. Once completed, it will become Taiwan’s largest advanced GPU cluster. The 27-megawatt data center will run on Nvidia’s latest Blackwell GB300 chips and is set to become Asia’s first GB300-powered AI data center, according to Neo Yao, CEO of Foxconn’s new AI supercomputing and cloud division, Visonbay.ai.

Nvidia: Renting Compute Is the Future

“As GPU technology accelerates, building individual facilities may no longer make financial sense,” said Alexis Bjorlin, Nvidia’s vice president, during Foxconn’s tech day. Attendees included major partners like Nvidia, OpenAI, and Uber.
Bjorlin added that renting compute resources could offer better investment returns, giving companies flexibility to scale AI workloads by product cycles and business needs.

Foxconn Expands Into AI and Data Centers

Foxconn—best known as Apple’s top iPhone manufacturer—has been diversifying into electric vehicles and AI data centers. It is now Nvidia’s primary producer of AI racks, which house GPUs, cables, and components specialized for AI workloads.

This shift has positioned Foxconn as a major beneficiary of the AI data-center boom, driven by cloud giants investing billions to expand infrastructure and research capacity. Last week, Foxconn predicted strong AI-driven demand in 2026.

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu told Reuters that the company plans to invest $2–3 billion annually into AI. Foxconn founder Terry Gou and Spencer Huang—Nvidia robotics product manager and son of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang—also attended the tech day. Spencer Huang said Nvidia is working closely with Foxconn to deploy AI in manufacturing and factory operations.

AI Rack Production Scaling Rapidly

Liu said Foxconn can now manufacture around 1,000 AI racks per week, and expects this number to rise next year.

He also noted that Foxconn’s electric-vehicle business is reaching the production levels needed to attract automakers looking to outsource manufacturing. Chief Strategy Officer Jun Seki presented the company’s “Model A” electric vehicle, designed by Japanese engineers.

Liu added that Foxconn plans to establish a company in Japan to serve local customers, and that manufacturing of the Model A will eventually move to Japan as well.
