Disneyland Becomes a Magical Holiday Park With Christmas Parades

It’s officially the most magical season of the year at the “Happiest Place on Earth”Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Each year, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park transform into a sparkling winter wonderland. The holiday celebration traditionally begins in mid-November, right after Halloween ends. This year, the festivities kicked off on November 14 and will continue through January 7.

During this festive period, guests can admire the 1,800 Victorian-style ornaments adorning Main Street, USA, marvel at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle shimmering with more than 80,000 lights, and enjoy holiday transformations of several iconic rides. Limited-edition holiday foods, seasonal treats, and cheerful parades add to the magic. Plus, with Disneyland celebrating its 70th anniversary, this year’s holiday season promises to be even more memorable.

Here’s everything you should know before experiencing the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort.

Festive Eats and Drinks

One of Disneyland’s biggest highlights is — without a doubt — the food. With 45 dining locations and six Festival Marketplaces (special event food kiosks), there’s no shortage of delicious holiday offerings. While Disneyland features some snack stands, most of the culinary action happens in Disney California Adventure, home to Pixar- and Marvel-themed attractions. This year brings more than 240 seasonal food items, including 90 brand-new creations. Some standout offerings include:

Festive Foods Marketplaces

California Adventure hosts six unique holiday Marketplaces, each offering specialty dishes inspired by Southern California flavors. Popular picks include braised pork belly adobo, tacos dorados de camarón, and hearty barbacoa tamales. For an energizing sip, try the winter citrus New York sour.

Blue Bayou Restaurant

Nestled within Disneyland’s New Orleans Square, this iconic restaurant serves Cajun and Creole-inspired favorites. Seasonal additions this year include a decadent sticky toffee cake and a festive holiday sangria.

Galactic Grill

Head to Tomorrowland for holiday-themed menu items like a crispy chicken sandwich, a layered holiday parfait, and a refreshing non-alcoholic holiday punch.

Schmoozies!

This California-style juice shop offers playful treats including red velvet Mickey waffles, elf-inspired Mickey shakes, and a unique ube cider.

Churro Carts

Disneyland’s churros are legendary, and during the holidays you can try them with special toppings like cannoli cream, chocolate peppermint drizzle, fresh strawberries, or sweet condensed milk.

Holiday-Themed Rides

Every year, select attractions receive a festive makeover. These rides are must-visits if you want to soak in the holiday spirit:

The Haunted Mansion

Disneyland’s eeriest attraction transforms into a cheerful yet spooky “Nightmare Before Christmas”-themed experience. Don’t miss the annual gingerbread display, complete with black crows and glowing red eyes.

It’s a Small World

The classic ride with 300 animatronic dolls shines even brighter for the holiday season. Even if you don’t hop aboard, its 50,000 exterior lights illuminate every evening at 5 p.m.

Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl

Spin your way through a Cars-themed holiday ride as Luigi sings festive tunes and invites riders to join in seasonal dances.

Holiday Events

Disneyland’s holiday events are among the most anticipated parts of the season. These special shows and celebrations don’t happen daily, so be sure to check the daily events calendar before visiting.

A Christmas Fantasy Parade

A beloved holiday tradition, this parade features fan-favorite Disney characters — including Elsa, Mickey, and Buzz Lightyear — as they join Santa Claus in a joyful march down Main Street, USA.

Mirabel’s Gifts of the Seasons

On select days, you’ll find Mirabel from Encanto bringing “Fiesta de Navidad” to life with music, stories, and festive performances at Paradise Gardens Park in Disney California Adventure.

“Believe… In Holiday Magic” Fireworks Spectacular

No Disneyland visit is complete without fireworks, and the holiday edition is truly enchanting. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle glows with lights and icicles as the night sky fills with seasonal magic.

Tips for Visiting Disneyland During the Holidays

  • Consider a Park Hopper ticket to experience everything across both parks. Many holiday-themed attractions are in Disneyland, while most seasonal dining options are in Disney California Adventure. Park Hopper prices can reach USD 224 (INR 19,870), depending on the date.

  • Dress comfortably for a full day of walking. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and a reusable plastic or aluminum water bottle (glass is prohibited). Since winter in Southern California can be rainy, packing an umbrella is wise.

  • Try the Sip and Savor Pass if sampling seasonal dishes is a priority. Priced at USD 49/INR 4,347 (or USD 46/INR 4,081 for Magic Key holders), it includes six digital coupons redeemable at select dining spots and Festival Marketplaces in Disney California Adventure.
